MART Studio Waiting List Application Form

Thank you for your interest in joining the MART Studio waiting list.


MART Studios are for practicing visual artists who need regular workspace to develop and produce artwork. 


MART Studios are intended for active practitioners and are not suitable for general storage, residential use, commercial retail, loud industrial work, or activities that may disturb other studio members.


Joining the waiting list does not guarantee that you will be offered a studio. Studios are allocated based on suitability, waiting list position, the type of studio available, and the needs of the building/studio community.


When a suitable studio becomes available, we will email people on the waiting list with information about the space and details of the viewing process.


You can unsubscribe or request removal from the waiting list at any time.

Suitability and Studio Criteria

Please read and confirm that you understand MART’s studio criteria below:

By completing this form you understand that MART studios are for practicing visual artists who need regular workspace to produce artwork or develop creative projects.

Please note that MART studios are generally not suitable for:

  • Music production or rehearsal
  • General storage-only use
  • Residential or overnight use
  • Private office use not connected to arts practice
  • Commercial retail or shop-style activity
  • Tattooing, body art, beauty, therapy, wellness or treatment services
  • Food production or catering
  • Public workshops, classes or regular public-facing activities without prior approval
  • Mass production, commercial manufacturing or heavy industrial fabrication
  • Work involving significant fumes, dust, fire risk, dangerous chemicals, heat tools or specialist ventilation unless specifically agreed
  • Activities that regularly bring members of the public into the building without approval
  • Activities that disturb, disrupt or negatively impact other studio members
  • Any activity that creates health and safety, fire safety, access or insurance concerns

Key Studio Rules

Please confirm that you understand the following basic studio rules. New Members will be provided with a detailed studio agreement including all our terms and conditions, below is a summary of key studio rules:


  • I understand that studio membership is for active arts/creative practice.
  • I understand that the studios are open 7am - 11pm.
  • I understand that I will be required to sign a studio agreement if offered a studio which will outline the terms and conditions for having a studio at MART including length, cost and full details.
  • I understand the terms of the agreement will be outlined on joining the studio.
  • I understand that studios cannot be used as residential spaces.
  • I understand that studios cannot be used for storage only.
  • I understand that I must be respectful of other studio members and shared spaces.
  • I understand that loud, disruptive or unsafe work may not be suitable.
  • I understand that I must follow MART’s health and safety, fire safety and access rules.
  • I understand that I must not let unauthorised guests into the building.
  • I understand that I may need approval for workshops, public visits, filming, events or activities involving outside guests.
  • I understand that joining the waiting list does not guarantee a studio.


How Studio Offers and Viewings Work

When a studio becomes available, MART will email the waiting list with information about the studio.

The email will usually include:

  • Images of the studio
  • Studio location/building
  • Studio size, if available
  • Monthly cost
  • Available start date
  • Length of Studio Agreement
  • Viewing date and time
  • Any important suitability or access notes
  • A button to attend the viewing
  • A button to confirm interest after the viewing


To keep the process fair and manageable, studio viewing requests and studio interest must be submitted through the buttons/forms provided in the studio availability email. 


Please do not reply to the studio availability email to request a viewing or to express interest as it will not be monitored due to the large volume of requests we receive.
